Verity Pulford is a glass artist in rural North Wales. She is fascinated by light, its magical qualities and the atmosphere it can create, the way it moves through glass, reflects, creates shadows.
She is particularly interested and influenced by the cataloguing of nature - from natural history artefacts, early cyanotypes, x-rays, microscopic images and botanical drawings. She also likes to combine techniques- cast, pate de verre, kiln-formed, painted, etched and also found natural materials in her work. She plays with ideas of magical realism- creating her own forms inspired by or combining different plants and organisms.
Verity has a 1st class BA Hons in Architectural Glass and is a qualified Art teacher. Her work sells in galleries across the UK. She makes artworks to commission & is a member of The Guild of Makers in Wales.
Stories from our students
We haven't run this exact course here before in Wernog Wood but this is what Verity's students said about her glass painting course here in Wernog Wood.

After 18 months of pandemic it was pure joy to travel from Glasgow to experience something artistic, hands on and satisfying in a gorgeous location with other arty beginners. I had an awesome day with amazing women and really inspiring art. Thank you #veritypulfordglass, and also #wernogwood Claire and Rob for hosting us with such a warm welcome. Anyone considering this but like me feeling not very confident, we were all beginniners and look what we did in a day (and other pieces as well). Nourishes the soul - Rebecca
Excellent!!! Thoroughly enjoyed my day! Learning about the process of painting on glass was absorbing and immensely satisfying, especially when I saw the results. The course was well structured throughout with clear instructions for every process.
Verity is warm and welcoming and possesses a great capacity for bringing people together to learn in a non pressurised setting. We all took more from the workshop than just our paintings. Thank you - Enid
Wernog Wood is a special place, situated down a longish drive, such a contrast to the 'Hurley Burley' of the real world. You can really relax here & concentrate on learning and experience how to make the subject of your course without interruption.
Verity is very generous in gifting her knowledge and practice, she is very supportive to students, as a group, and encourages individuals to achieve their maximum potential. Such a perfect day!
- Heather
