Mixed media

This will be a colourful weekend of mixed media taught by Lynda Roberts with the theme of 'Forms in a landscape'.

Mixed media is an exciting way to work, using colourful layers of images and texture combined with paint to create an original finished collage.

You will tear and collage inspiring images from the photographs, postcards or magazine pictures that you bring with you. Your work will be characterised by the variety of other papers, envelopes and wrappers that you also bring. These colours, textures and surfaces will become the foundations of your collage, upon which you will draw or paint.

You will bind your notes, samples and sketches into a notebook to take away together with your finished work.

This course is aimed at adults, aged 18yrs + and is suitable for beginners to those with some experience

Lynda Roberts studied textile design at the Glasgow School of Art. Having travelled extensively, much of her work is large scale, rich layered multi-media collages which feature both the architectural environment and the natural landscape. These include bold, colourful geometric tiling and intricate carvings of the Alhambra Palace, Granada; textural and colourful Venetian Gothic architecture and canals; spiritual temples and domestic dwellings in the remote uplands of Nepal; exotic plants in the elegant Victorian Palm House in Sefton Park Liverpool; and the rocky shores of Bardsey Island,  North Wales closer to home.

In addition to her own work, she has had a varied and interesting career teaching art in schools on the Wirral.
