3D pumpkin carving uses traditional reductive sculpting techniques to produce life-like faces and personalities.

Using a range of clay ribbon tools, knives & abrasive pads, you will learn to sculpt characterful three dimensional faces based on portrait references, be it a family member, a well known personality or just a figment of your imagination.

Your faces will age from day to day, wrinkling or contorting like impermanent gargoyles. Embrace the fleeting presence of your pumpkin companion, or choose to preserve it for posterity. The brief life of your masterpiece adds to the charm of the experience.

This course is aimed at adults, aged 18yrs + and is suitable for beginners to those with experience

Daniel Nyman is a sculptor with a BA in 3D and contemporary crafts, specialising in 3D pumpkin carving.

From a young age he has always made things with his hands, from paper sculptures to monster maquettes and clay portraits.

A big fan of Halloween and all things spooky, he discovered 3D pumpkin carving 12 years ago and never looked back. 

He has created pumpkin trails and taught classes for English Heritage.
