Over a colour filled two days with glass artist Brian Duffy, you will design and make a 35cm square leaded stained glass panel to be illuminated by natural light in your window, or displayed within a handmade metal frame if you choose. Firstly you will plan your design on paper before learning to cut both curved and straight glass shapes. Using Sgraffito techniques, you will paint surface designs onto your glass to be fired overnight, ready for you to lead, solder and cement on day two.
Or choose a single day course using a pre-designed template. By the end of the day you will have made a 30cm x 30cm square stained glass panel, learning to cut, lead, solder, cement and polish the panel. Alternatively choose a half day course making a landscape panel using traditional, but unpainted stained glass.
You do not need any previous artistic experience as pre-made designs are available, however you are welcome to create your own.

Brian Duffy began his journey with glass in an industrial setting after leaving school. As his passion grew, he sought to develop his skills and consequently spent five years exploring the light-altering effects of glass at university studying Architectural Glass Design. He then continued onto a Masters in Contemporary Applied Arts.
Over 33 years of working with glass, he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in a wide variety of techniques. He has shared this knowledge for the past 20 years teaching students at degree level.
Now working as a freelance glass artist, Brian enjoys offering others the chance to discover glass design in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
